Case X Case
I've always been drawn to true crime and the psychology behind it. I'm fascinated by what leads people to make unimaginable choices, how cases are solved, and the stories that often get lost behind the headlines. If you're as curious as I am about the minds of criminals, the twists of an investigation, and the details that make each case unique, grab a seat and let's dive into the story together.

In this episode, we take a closer look at the disturbing case of Anthony Todt, a former family man whose life took a tragic and shocking turn. We’ll walk through the events leading up to the deaths of his wife, three children, and the family dog, the investigation that followed, and the evidence that ultimately brought the case to court.
We’ll also discuss Todt’s background, the timeline of events, and the questions surrounding what happened inside the family’s Florida home. It’s a difficult case, but one that raises important questions about family, deception, and how warning signs can sometimes go unnoticed.
Hello, listeners. Welcome to Case by Case. This is a true crime podcast for educational purposes only. Nothing that I say is intended to be disrespectful or offensive to anyone. I research and rant. If that sounds good to you, let's carry on. Episode 4, the case of Anthony Todd. This case takes us to Celebration Florida, although there is nothing to celebrate. Late December 19, no, 2019. I'm sorry. The victims are Anthony's wife, Megan, 42, son Alexander, 13, son Tyler, 11, daughter Zoe, 4, and the dog, Breezy. I think this is my first case where I'm discussing an animal. And that's very sad for me. Well, we shouldn't be out here killing people, but animals, come on. That's that's just slow. Anthony John Todd was born on September 29th, 1974. Nope, sorry, 1975, to Robert and Loretta in Pennsylvania. He had a younger sister named Christine, who was born four years after he was, so in 1979. Anthony's father was a special education teacher at a high school, and I didn't care about the name, so you can write it down. March 1980, when Anthony was four, he witnessed a terrifying crime. Someone had broken into their home and Anthony heard his mother scream, then bang, a gunshot. Loretta survived the attack, however, she lost her left eye. Later, her husband Robert was tried and convicted to attempted murder for hire. You hired somebody to kill your wife. That is insane. And then here's this. So the person he hired was an ex-student from the high school that he taught at. Like, sir, what is wrong with you? So, anyway, so he hires this child to kill his wife, which is probably why your wife survived. Because you hired a child to do it. So come on, what did you think was getting ready to happen? Uh, so he does this because he wants to marry his mistress. Okay. But the crazy thing is, Robert has two uh mistresses or mistrai. I don't know how you say that. And what's disgusting about it is one of his uh mistresses is a 17-year-old. You're disgusting, Robert. You seem to think it's okay to take advantage of teenagers. That's that's what you seem to think of. And the reason why I'm saying teenagers is because this ex-student had literally just graduated. So it has they have to be a teenager, or he has to be a teenager. And the other mistress, he was engaged to. She was a nurse. Um, so I can only assume she was of age, but he was engaged to her. So you're married, you're engaged, and I hate to say it, but you have a girlfriend. Who do you think you are, Robert? Who who? Okay, are you Hugh Hefner? What the hell is wrong with you? Um, but again, like I want everybody to understand that divorce is an option. It's it's an option. If you have to choose between killing or a divorce, choose the divorce every single time. Just every single time, choose the divorce. Unfortunately, and I hated this, he only served 10 years. I'm sorry. You at like I understand the murder for hire didn't go like didn't successfully kill me, but you wanted them to. You hired them to kill me. I lost my eye, my child witnessed it, and you only got 10 years. I don't like that. I don't like that at all. Honestly, I think he should have got far more time, and I'm pretty sure the person who shot her probably got a lot more time. But I think he should have he should serve the same thing that they serve. I I don't mm-mm. So, anyways, he gets 10 years. This happened in the eight or 1980, so he's probably out by 1990-ish, and he probably got out earlier because it was like five to ten years. So he probably got out earlier. And I'm gonna say this if you hired somebody to kill me and they didn't do it, you might want to stay in jail. It's not gonna be safe out here for you. It's not because I'm looking for you. I'm looking for you, and I promise you, I'm going to be successful. Okay, that that's just my little tidbit there. Um, I couldn't find much on Anthony's actual childhood other than that that moment. Um, but what I do know is that uh he and Megan, they met at Montville High School. And oh, I'm sorry. No. Yeah. What am I talking about? Okay, so they met at Montville High School and then they got married in 2000. They both went to Sacred Heart University and got their master degrees in physical therapy. So they're both just on the same, you know, the same path as far as what they want to do in life. They then, after gaining their master's, they opened up their own clinic and worked together. And of course, their clinic is focused on physical therapy. Uh, so again, they're just eye to eye, same wavelength, just two peas in a pod. Um, so after Megan have has their children, she decides she's just gonna stay home. Not just stay home. I hate when I use the word just in certain scenarios because I don't, because just kind of downplays things. So I don't want to say just stayed home, because we most of us know that staying home with children is not a bare minimum at all, right? Like it's tough. Sometimes it's tougher than most things. But anyway, so she decides she's gonna stay home uh and let Anthony manage their clinic. And I'm sorry, Megan. I'm sorry that you trusted him, but that was a huge mistake. Huge, but we'll get there. Um, so he does that. And so the children they get interested in music, which is fantastic. It's a nice extracurricular activity. It gives them something to focus on. Um, so I think it's always great to to put your children into something and and just give them something, um, something to do. Uh anyway, that's my little bit there. Okay, in 2017, Anthony states, now this is what Anthony says. I don't know about it, but this is this is his thing. So he says that Megan was bitten by a tick when they went to Disney World and she contracted Lyme disease. And due to the diagnosis, she suffered with depression and she became more reserved and isolated. Now, to give y'all a little personal bit of my life. I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Uh, this was back in like 2009, I want to say, 2008, 2009. Um, they said that I had Lyme disease. And I looked at them and I said, What are you talking about? And so they were like, Oh, have you been out in the woods? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I said, Who's going out in the woods? I barely like being outside, period. I'm darn sure not in nobody's woods. But they did diagnose me with Lyme disease. And um I I'm not gonna say that everybody reacts to things differently. Um, I don't remember a depression or uh, you know, being isolated or anything like that. Uh, they just kind of gave me, I think it's just some type of antibiotic type situation because I didn't have like the that little skin dot rash thing that I didn't have one of those. So honestly, I don't even think I had one idea. I think they just said something weird. But regardless, he says she suffered from depression, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Now, this is what I was thinking. I was thinking that he was gonna come back with that depression stuff, right? He was gonna say something weird and he was gonna blame her depression on it. So let's see if he does, because that's what I'm thinking he's gonna do. So the family moved down to Celebration, Florida. And uh this this whole time they were in Connecticut. I don't know if I said that. So if I didn't say it, that's on me. Because when Loretta remarried, you remember the dude tried to kill her. Okay, she got remarried, and then they left Pennsylvania and went to Connecticut. So uh hopefully y'all can keep up with me because my train of thought is all off. So I have I apologize. Uh, so now we're all caught. Okay, so Anthony stayed in Connecticut working, and he would go visit the family weekly. And so this all this is all very shady. I want y'all to understand. Him managing a clinic by himself, him staying in Connecticut and visiting them, it's very shady. Everybody should be suspicious. April 2019, because Anthony couldn't just do what the hell he was supposed to do, right? Just go in there, physical therapy people, and be done with it. You know what I mean? Just do that. Anthony was investigated for fraud. Because again, why? He was charging patients for services that they hadn't received. So, you know, I'm not even gonna go off on that tangent. Just know that I did medical billing and coding, so I'm aware of what it was he was doing. He was using the money to support his lavish lifestyle, or should I say, I should say his family's lavish lifestyle. So the house that they had down in Florida was their Florida home. So they had a Florida home and then they had a home in Connecticut. Um, of course, because they lived down in celebration, celebration is near Disney World. And so they would constantly go to Disney. I don't know how many of you have been to Disney World, but that place is not too cheap in any regard. Okay, you out here staying at resorts, probably, you out here buying fast pass, you out here eating, all of that stuff is expensive. Is it worth it? Yes, as a Disney adult, I will say it is worth it, but it is expensive. Um, and then whatever else it is that they were doing, right? Because you would think if you have a Florida home, if you go into Disney, you probably racking up on everything else, right? He was also being sued because he was taking out loans and he wasn't paying them back. So, of course, he's being sued for you know uh failing to pay back his loans. So, all in all, Anthony is in the hole over $100,000. And they were also facing eviction from the Florida home because their mortgage for that home was about $4,900, right? And he couldn't afford, he couldn't afford it because he had money. So, and I'm just sitting here thinking, like, okay, if you're committing fraud, you're committing fraud, why not pay down your loans? Because your loans should have covered, you know, like what it was that you're doing all lavishly. So I kind of feel like the frauds should pay down the loans, then you are free to use your fraud money. I don't know. Maybe that's just me not knowing how to do money because Lord knows I don't, but I just kind of feel like there is a way for him to not be so bad. All right, so now we're gonna get to the sad stuff, and I will say that um I am going to describe certain things about the deaths of the children. Um, so just be wary for that. So December 14th, 2019, Alec and Tyler had performed at um their school's holiday concert, and both boys received rewards for their accomplishments. So Alec played the piano and the violin, so he got a reward for or an award for that, and Tyler was um rewarded for the piano and the guitar. And so they took pictures with their certificates and their music instructors, and I saw their pictures. They were such beautiful boys. The little girl was so stinking, adorable. Oh my gosh, they were just such a beautiful family to exclude Robert. I don't know, I don't know where he came from, I don't know why he was in the picture, but whatever. Um, and that was the last evening anybody would see them alive. Um, so the thing is, um, nobody knows if that night is the night that they were all murdered or what the case may be. Because we'll get to that in a moment, but you'll definitely understand why in a second. So January 13th, 2020, police went to the home, and I'm gonna give you two scenarios as to why they entered the home because I've read two different reasons why the police went to the house. So, first reason the police went to the home was a well-being check. It was reported that Anthony was sending some concerning text messages to family members, so they called the police to have them check on everybody. That's the first reason that was uh given for the police going in the house. The second reason was they were actually staking out the house for the sake of arresting Anthony on the fraud charges in Connecticut. So Anthony comes out on the porch and they were actually getting ready to arrest him then. But then he goes back into the house and they see that when he's going back into the house, he's kind of like wibble wobbling, just not walking very steady. And um, so he goes back into the house before they can they can go arrest him. So they then just go to the front door to knock on it because I guess their I their thought process was we want to arrest him outside. Like we don't want to, I guess, scare the the children or whatever the case may be. They were trying to be very polite, very courteous. Um, so they go and they knock on the door, but when they knock on the door, the door is open. So it just opens as they knock, and that's why they go in. So, like I said, there's two different reasons why they go in, but regardless, now the police are inside the home, and what they found was mortifying. So, again, this is where things get really weird. So I'm about to talk about the deaths of children. When they get into the home, they are talking to Anthony and they're like, Where's your wife? Where's your children? And he's not very coherent, like he's saying some very weird things. He's like, Oh, she's sleeping, and they're like, Where are your kids? And he's like, Oh, I don't know if they went to a sleepover last night. And they're like, What the hell are you talking about? And then he starts mumbling, and so they're like, What in the hell? So they're just like, Okay, we'll just look around and we'll figure it out. So they realize that the master bedroom store is open. So when they open up the master bedroom, that's where they find the bodies of the two boys and Megan. And because of the fact that this is weeks later, the bodies have been mummified. And they find the boys on a mattress in the bedroom. So it's just like a random mattress in the bedroom, and so that's where they find it. And then Megan is on the bed, and so of course, they know there should be a little girl. Where's Zoe? They can't find Zoe. So now they're all scrambling around. They're like, Where's Zoe? Where's Zoe? And so one of the officers noticed that there's a blanket at the foot of the bed, uh, of again, of the bed in the master bedroom. And so when they go and lift up that blanket, they found Zoe. Zoe is four, so she's little. So at first you can't really see. Um, but she's under Megan's feet for God knows what reason. Um, and then unfortunately, they stumble upon the body of the dog. So um the examiner's report says that the mom and the sons were drugged with Benadryl and then stabbed. And then it says that there's a possibility that all three of the children were either strangled or suffocated, but because of the decomposition, it's really difficult to say how exactly they died. Um, so there's that. Okay, so just like Chris Watts, Anthony tried to put it on Megan, which is so stupid. Why do y'all do that? Stop doing that. So he goes, Oh, well, Megan tried to poison the children by giving them a benadryl mud pie. First off, why do you say it like it's an actual recipe? Why'd you do that? He says, um, it so she she kills them by drugging them, and then she drugged herself and then stabbed herself in the stomach. That's what happens. And I'm sitting here going, I don't think so. I don't think that's what happened at all. And then he blames the fact that she has like this newfound religion, and so she feels like she's saving them from the apocalypse. And so I'm like, I think the only way that there's an apocalypse as far as a religion goes would be like a cult. That's what that sounds like to me. So I don't know. I have no idea. Because obviously everything he just said was bullshit. So now what I will say is I thought he was gonna blame depression, but he didn't. So that was wrong. Anywho, um, but then I was thinking to myself, if she made this Benadryl mud pie and she was trying to take the kids, she's trying to take out herself to save everybody from the apocalypse, why didn't she take you to? I don't get it, but then it kind of dawned on me if he was being so incoherent, mumbling and stumbling around, then there is a possibility he did have Benadryl in his system and he had maybe too much of it. I'm not sure because you know, Benadryl does make you drowsy, it obviously does, but if he Has like a little bit too much, then you know it could cause him to kind of you know weeble wobble a little bit. So I don't know if he did that on purpose or what, but he definitely killed everybody. Megan didn't do it. So Anthony was found guilty of four accounts of first-degree murder and animal cruelty. He was sentenced to life without a possibility of parole and one year in jail for the murder of Breezy. But because he was in jail already, you know, for his trial and everything like that, um, he was granted time, sir. Boom. So we really don't have a motive. Well, we do have a motive. We do have a motive. The motive for why Anthony killed his family is off finance base. He was broke, they were about to lose their home, and so he decided my family has to die because I don't have anything. And that was that. I believe that they kicked him out of the space that they were in, because although they had a clinic, it was in a building. So they were renting that space, and so he couldn't pay the rent. So they're building or their the space that they were renting, they got booted out of. So, you know, they didn't have that space anywhere. But I'm thinking you still have your license as a physical therapist, like you didn't lose, you didn't lose your license. Um, as far as I know. I didn't read that he lost his license, but I guess if you're being investigated for fraud, you're probably on suspension at least. But your wife is fine, she still has her license. So even if y'all were struggling, she could go work somewhere because she still has her license. And at this point, your kids are 13 and 11. Yeah, Zoe's four, but she can go to daycare. She's getting ready to, you know, start kindergarten soon anyway. So Megan could have gotten a job if you just would have told her. So I don't even know. You have no. Oh my gosh. I don't get it. I don't get it. Now don't don't confuse it. I really don't understand why people kill people unless you know what I mean. Like there are certain justifications, especially to me, on why you would murder somebody. But these particular murders, these family annihilators, you don't have a reason. Because there is never a reason that you should be killing children. I do not care. There's no reason. But for you to be sitting here telling them, oh, I'm in debt, we're about to get evicted, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, your wife is a physical therapist. She has a license as a physical therapist. She can do work. What do you mean? If y'all built a clinic before, she can do it again. She can go and get a whole new partner and she can work. Now, does that mean that y'all gonna be out here living lavishly? Probably not. Probably not for a while. But I'm pretty sure y'all be okay. No, you won't be living in Celebration, Florida. Probably not in Florida at all, because Florida is expensive. But I'm sure you can find somewhere else. Go back to Connecticut. I think Connecticut might be expensive too. But go be somewhere else. Jeez, all these cases, every single one had a right, could have been solved. Could have been solved. None of these things had to happen. Y'all just out here being stupid, getting on my nerves. Anywho, that is the case of Anthony Todd. Um he's he's irritated. They're all irritated. Like I said, they all they all could have been solved with a simple conversation. Just a simple conversation. Just talk. That's all you had to do. Talk and and communicate with your spouse. Whether it be, hey, I want a divorce, whether it be, hey, we are financially struggling. I need her help. That's it. That is it. That is all. But instead, y'all are out here, well, I gotta kill you, the kids, and now the dog, too. What the hell did the dog do? What did the dog do? Okay. That is the case of Anthony Todd. I hope that I have satisfied you enough for you to come join me for episode five. Be safe. Ado.
